About Me
Okay,
as with any website, it is important to know a little bit about the
creator - thus this page! My name is Kristi, I'm American (but I ADORE
European cultures), and I'm a Freshman in college with many obscure
interests. To name a few of my fancies, I adore The Phantom of the Opera, Lord of the Rings (especially Hobbits!!!), Harry Potter, Les Miserables, and I am fascinated by the Jack the Ripper case.
My favorite reads are Les Miserables (Hugo is my God, Mis is my bible!), The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux (I don't much care for Phantom by Susan Kay), the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Empire Falls by Richard Russo, and the Harry Potter books, athough the classics by Jane Austen are my ultimate favourites.
My
favorite poets are Edgar Allen Poe and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, but
I am also quite fond of Shakespeare's works, Charles
Baudelaire, Richard Russo, Voltaire, and...I'm ashamed...yes, the
Marquis de Sade. *blushes*
I
love all kinds of music, my favorite classical composers being Ludwig
van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johannes Brahms, Erik Satie,
Frederic Chopin, and Johann Sebastian Bach. My favorite bands are
Radiohead, Pulp, Smashing Pumpkins, Franz Ferdinand, The Postal
Service, and Placebo, and Alain Bashung, Arno, Beck, and David Bowie
rock my socks.
Also,
I am very fond of art history and 19th century artwork. My
favorite painter is William-Adolphe Bouguereau (many of his models look
like me!), but I also admire Marcus Stone, Sir Thomas Lawrence, Edmund
Blair Leighton, Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, and Lord Frederick Leighton
I hope
to major in either History, French, or Music, because all of those
subjects are the coolest things since sliced bread. Historical fashion
and lifestyle amaze me and my favorite periods of history include the
18th and 19th centuries, excluding anything having to do with the
American Civil War (come on, confess it - it's overdone! We get
it...big top-hats, huge-ass poofy skirts, and Southern accents.
BORING!). But, most importantly to me, I am a Mezzo-Soprano who enjoys
singing Opera and Broadway music, and I am an aspiring writer, focusing
mainly on Historical fiction and writing poetry in
a fashion much like the Romantic masters.
I
really hope that you've enjoyed this site because I certainly had a
ball creating it; the managers really do deserve this tribute - and you
know it! Come on, they are hilarious! Gotta love 'em! Thank you so much
